Professor John Tully at Yale University has developed an undergraduate chemistry course designed for non-science majors, Chemistry, Energy, and the Environment.  While there are no prerequisites beyond high school level chemistry, mathematics, and physics, the course is not just a simple version of Introductory Chemistry. Rather, it focuses on a selection of current societal issues. These are used as a mechanism for presenting the underlying chemical and physical concepts.  The objective of the course is to provide students with a framework for understanding and assessing the technical aspects of options that may affect their lives and their future business and political decisions.  Professor Tully performs an experimental demonstration pertaining to the topic for every lecture.
